Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland plus Review

Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland Plus is a remake of the Original Atelier Rorona that was released for the Ps3 back in June 25th 2009 for Japan, September 28th,2010 for North America and Oct 22nd,2010 for Europe. The delivery of the beloved Atelier franchise Gust took on one of the biggest jump ever when the tackled their first 3D Atelier game which from before were still just 2d for example is its older sister the Atelier Iris Trilogy for the ps2.
Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland Plus lets you take control of Rorona a young girl who has been forced into working for Astrid, a Alchemist. Rorona has to work at Astrid´s Atelier to pay back the debit Her parents have gained from the treatment for their sickness. When a messenger from the castle of Arland visit the Atelier with some bad news : the Atelier will be shut down in 3 years if the Atelier can not complete the assignments give to it with in the 3 years before the Atelier is to be closed. Astrid in the end forced the responsibility on to her Pupil Rorona to complement the assignments in the allotted time given for each one.
Now that i have given the story background let´s get into the game it self. Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland Plus was released for the Ps3 and the Playstation Vita. Both versions of the game are the same as the vita version.
Let´s talk the Visuals of the game and it´s Models the Character Model have been update from the original Version which had taken on more a Chibi/ distort size the head being bigger than the body and well just didn't look right for the ages of each character. With Rorona Plus they took the style and setting of the new model they have used from other Atelier games Totori Meruru, Ayesha and Escha and Logy. Game used the older and not realistic models.
Environment also looks amazing with the better knowledge Gust has said they were able to make the game looks just beautiful as the others.
Controls run smooth on both version of the game there no real issue. Music is a big big part of Gusts game and Atelier Rorona is no exception on the Music department even better you can change the music to soundtrack to the other Atelier games even the ones that never made it to the west.
Now it´s time to get into the Combat and Synchronizes with Alchemy, gathering items and assignments and the time limit are up next. Assignments are broke down in to 3 years and each of the 12 assignments is 3 months each to complete, which is more than enough time. Assignments are a mix of Hunting monsters, Alchemizing items gathering items. along the way you get party members that are friends of Rorona those will tag along for a fee of cole, you can lower the fee by completing Friend requests. Moving around the an the map will use your time.
The Battle System is one of the nicest parts in Atelier Rorona: The Alchemist of Arland its a basic good old turn based battle system that's super easy to to pick up and learn. Each character has their own set of skills which can be from deal damage to healing and supporting the party.
Alchemized items for the assignments and request will decrease your time between alchemizing the items and gathering the items you need the time can creep up on before you know its the due date. They added a bingo board system for the assignments by completing side quests you earn Stamps they mark when the line up your earn a reward. There are plenty of places to gather your items needed for the the quest and or assignments.
Now it comes all down to the final verdict is Atelier Rorona a game worth picking up? Well yes the game is wonderful if you love Japanese role playing games or love a game with loveable characters it a game that earns a spot on your shelf and with 2 different ways to play it and a very nice price along with the Bonus content that has been added in Plus which wasn't in the Original version. as well new playable party members I wont spoil who they are. The game isn't say as long as the other in the Atelier series but with added content it can make last even longer with stronger bosses and such that have been added.
