News: PsP Shipments to Cease in Japan

PsP shipments in Japan are to stop by the end of June.
Following on from last years news of Ps2 production ending, It could be considered the end of an era as such with both of Sony's systems from that generation now being laid to rest. Numerous members of our staff are fond of the PsP and have enjoyed the 2004 handheld due to its wealth of Jrpg's & region-free gaming meaning otaku goodness on the go. The system pretty much kickstarted our Otaku review section with these reviews:

In Japan, Sony will be starting a promotion (see above) for users of the PsP to upgrade to a PSVita/TV. The user will receive a coupon towards a Vita based on the value of their PsP. PSPgo & PSP-2000 systems are worth 2,000 yen. The PSP-3000 series will be worth 4,000 yen. The promotion will run between June 3rd to August 29th.

With production ceasing it will no doubt mean that support will trickle away from developers too. So how does this news leave you? sad? happy? relieved? anguished? Let us know in comments!
