News - More MGSV Comparison Info

Kohima promised yesterday that he would release a video showing the differ ever between the PS4 and Xbox One versions of ground Zeroes.

We already know that the game runs at 60 frames per second in 1080p on PS4, 60 frames in 720p on Xbox One. So on paper the PS4 should perform better. Take a look at the trailer below and make up your own opinion.

As you can see the PS4 is currently out performing the Xbox One in many ways. Even down to the sky. You may notice that the Xbox version is full of clouds and the PS4 is not.  Well Kojima tweeted regarding that;
"In addition, in the PS4 version only the daytime sky is not a static picture. It includes special processing based on atmospheric simulation."
Also, the guys over at DualShockers have created some gifs of still frames from the trailer.  The best gif for showing the major difference between the versions is the one below.  It contains a lot of difference textures plus the text on the sign is a lot more sharp on the PS4.  Personally, I think the Xbox One version looks like a game from the last Generation (PS3/X360) but I will let you make your own mind up

News - Would You Kindly Shut Your Doors Irrational?

We all make choices, but in the end our choices make us.

After seventeen years, Bioshock studio Irrational Games is shutting it's doors.
It was announced by Ken Levine today over at Irrational Games website that himself and 15 members are moving on to create a "smaller team with a flatter structure and a more direct relationship with gamers".

Kev states that "In many ways, it will be a return to how we started: a small team making games for the core gaming audience".

But even though 15 members are moving on, there is the question about the other who are left behind.  Irrational Games are supporting these poor workers in help them move to new pastures.  They are giving them access to the studio to say their goodbyes and develop their portfolios.  Kotaku reached out to Irrational regarding the staff being laid off and they responded;

"In an effort to streamline our processes I am sad to confirm that we let go a total of 8 employees today. Any studio’s greatest asset is the group of people that make up the whole, and as such it was extremely hard to make this decision and there is never a good time for this to happen. As co-workers and friends, we wish them the very best."

I wish these staff the best of luck and hope they find great jobs and pass their fantastic skills over to another studio.
As you know, I am a huge fan of the Bioshock series and this is both sad and good to see the studio go.  All I hope is that the same effort and skill are put into future games and maybe we might get Bioshock Vita.  I am probably being too hopeful there.

On a lighter note, the final DLC for Bioshock Infinite, Burial at Sea 2 is due out soon.

New Killzone Multiplayers incoming feb 19th

Guerilla cambridge just announced the release date of the new multiplayer maps bloodgracht and tharsis depot. If you played killzone 2 these will seem very familiar to you.

First is tharsis depot. Tharsis depot is an underground map set around petrusite conversion platform, and is best suited for warzone and mercenary warfare. The second map is fan favourite bloodgracht. The map bloodgracht is based on the ruined city of Pyrrhus. This map is suited for all modes to play.

The best thing about this news is that it's free and are expected to be available tomorrow , February 19th. The update itself isn't that big. It will eat up 167 MB of your memory card. However, if you haven't downloaded previous updates then you will need 528 MB worth of space on your vita's memory card.

This is a perfect way for revisiting this game. I haven't played this game for a long time since i don't have that many friends to play Killzone with. However, with our new member Desmond and Andi getting a Playstation Vita i think I'm going to play killzone mercenary again.

News - The Order: 1886 Trailer & Gameplay

Sony have officially released new details for Ready at Dawn's upcoming game, The Order 1886.
The story is set in a neo Victorian London.  An alternative history set around an old war where technology has advanced.  The war has been battled for centuries and is set between humans and half-breeds.  From this, The Order were born.  An alliance of the noblest warriors who have fought to hold the line between the two factions for hundreds of years.
The Order has kept themselves hidden behind history and legend to ensure the safety of humanity.  But with the Industrial revolution came change.  this change was that they started to battle with "modern" weaponry.
But, as history has shown us, people do not like change.  The people, feeling oppressed by what they believe to be a dictatorship, form the Rebellion and  take up arms against the Monarchy & The Order.

Sounds like exciting stuff.  Hopefully we will see a release date around E3.
In the mean time check out the trailers and screenshots below.  It looks stunning so far - what do you think?

News - UPDATE - More Than Meets The Eye

Update

More details have been shared about Rise of the Dark Spark.  There are over 40 playable characters and it will be a follow up to the movie, Age of Extinction.  The player can switch between Autobots and Decepticons during the single player, which sees you hunting for the Dark Spark.
There is a new leveling system which is used across both multiplayer and single player meaning that experience earned during any part of the game will allow players to unlock load-outs, weapons, abilities and characters.
Also Escalation is back, offering four player online cooperative wave defense.  New features include new up gradable defense systems, more playable characters and recognizable opponents.

Are you ready for some intense running and gunning?

Original Story

It has been a rumour a few days ago but now it looks like Transformers Rise of the Dark spark is real.
It got the big reveal at the Toy Fair in New York and is being released some point this year on Wii U, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, 3DS & PC.
It is set to tie the Michael Bay films into the fantastic Cybertron series created by High Moon Studios.  So, in theory this is a sequel to those games.  High Moon are not developing this game though, this task has been given to Edge of Reality.  Who are they you ask?  They worked on Mass Effect & Dragon Age Origins, so hopefully we should be in for something good.
Speaking to Examiner.com, an Activision rep explained that the game will serve as a means of "marrying two different universes, the Tranformers Cybertron universe and the Michael Bay Transformers universe."

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments.

News - UPDATE - MGS Custom PS4 Heading to Japan

Snaaaake, we're not finished yet!

Update

Konami have released some techinical details comparing the game between Current Gen and Next Gen - Next Gen/Current Gen Comparison
There are no comparisons between console brands but there is a nice table of stats at the end.

Original Story

Kojima hinted about a custom PS4 console last week but today it has been revealed as the truth.
Sony Japan have announced a limited edition PS4 called the PS4 x Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes Fox Edition.
It comes bundled with the console, a dual shock and the game.

The console is very much like the original but it comes with a fancy Golden fox logo.

Another thing we learnt about Ground Zeroes is that the PS4 is displayed at 1080p where the Xbox One is only 720p. The upside is that they both run at 60fps, so it will be smooth gaming all around, but the console war still rages on!

The console will launch along side the gameon the 20th March for 46,980 Yen in Japan.

Ground Zeroes is set to release in the EU on 20th March and US 18th March.

Killer is Dead ain't quite dead..

It seems Killer is Dead isn't quite so dead afterall as it has been announced that a PC port is in the works to be published by Deep Silver. It's not just your standard release, its always the case isn't it?, as this port is entitled Nightmare Edition & features some extras -

Nightmare Mode difficulty: Enemies can only be defeated using the following attacks: Adrenaline Burst, Dodge Burst, Headshots, so the gameplay requires far more skill and tactics. Additionally, you won’t be able to use the Final Judgement finisher (QTE mode) to defeat enemies.

Smooth Operator Pack for console included and unlocked after Episode 3.

Theater Mode: Rewatch cutscenes and extended background information on characters after the first playthrough

The port is set for release on the 9th May for 19.99. Whichever platform it is to release on as yet to be announced, but Steam should be a given.
